The Benefits of a Shower Filter:
Many people filter their drinking water to remove chlorine and other contaminants (which we strongly recommend) but did you know that 50% of your daily chlorine exposure occurs in the shower? In a hot shower chlorine can exist as both a liquid (which can be absorbed through the skin) and a gas (which can be inhaled). Sprite exclusive “Chlorgon” KDF filtration media uses a chemical reaction known as “Reduction-Oxidation”, or “Redox”, to convert free chlorine and some combined chlorines to a larger harmless chloride salt which is too large to evaporate or be absorbed through your skin.
Apart from the known health risks associated with chlorine, exposure in the shower and bath can lead to dry and flaking skin as well as dry, brittle hair. It only makes sense to remove the chlorine from your water before you bathe or shower in it. Sprite shower filters are NSF Standard 177 certified to remove up to 99% of all free chlorine allowing you to enjoy those long hot showers with confidence.
Sprite’s patented filtering technology uses their exclusive “Chlorgon” KDF filtering media, a proprietary combination of calcium sulfide, zinc, and copper which is NSF Standard 177 certified to remove:
free chlorine and some combined chlorines
hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell)
iron oxide (rust)
Note-Sprite filters with “Chlorgon” KDF media do not remove chloramine. Check with your water supplier to determine if they use chlorine or chloramine to disinfect your water. If you need to reduce chloramines, check out the Propur ProMax shower filter.
